The two, Ogamba and Machogu, were vying on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket but lost to ODM's Simba Arati.
President William Ruto on Friday announced his first batch of Cabinet nominees after what he termed as wide consultation with the aim of forming a "broad-based" government.
Among the nominees is Julius Migos Ogamba, who in 2022 had the hopes to join county government but as running mate for former CS Ezekiel Machogu who was then contesting for the Kisii Gubernatorial race. And two years later, Ogamba is now replacing Machogu who was fired from the docket this month after intense protests against Ruto's government.

The two, Ogamba and Machogu, were vying on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket but lost to ODM's Simba Arati.
And, on July 19, 2024, Ogamba made it to the headlines after President Ruto nominated him to the Education Docket.
Last year in March 2023, he was appointed as the new chairman of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) Board, a capacity he is serving until today. He succeeded former Chief of Defence Forces of the Kenya Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe in the role.
Ogamba is an advocate with nearly 30 years of legal practice experience and a member of the Kenya Law Society. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public.
The education CS nominee has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.
He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
His name will be forwarded for approval to the National Assembly where he will undergo vetting.
